“With humor and inventiveness, Gerbase and Assis Brasil narrate the eternal passions – but of very short duration – of a boy with irresistible fall for love at first sight. Drawing exclusively on the images and the voice (in off) of a narrator, the filmmakers manage to convey to the public an immense range of information about the behavior, values and daily life of a certain part of the population of the city. Interlude is an intelligent film exercise and a healthy lesson on the strength of synthesis.”
(Ivo Egon Stigger, FOLHA DA TARDE, 03/25/83)

“Using a narrative text, (Gerbase and Giba) describe the adventures of a supermarket Casanova. Inspired more in Eric Rohmer than in any other French filmmaker, the film’s narrative values the presence of a sensitive and promising actress, Marta Biavaschi, in the role of the supermarket’s cash girl, seduced and abandoned by the charm of the volatile conqueror.”
(Tuio Becker, FOLHA DA TARDE, 04/23/83)

“It’s through simplicity that the film manages to be critical, showing how much consumerism is present in the relationship between people. This theme is explicit, for example, during the physical description of the characters: they have glycerin hair, eyes with the color of soap. People end up looking at themselves as products: they consume and are consumed.”
(Arlene Freitas Lima, CINE IMAGINÁRIO, June 1986)

Interlude is great. Between two great passions, a young man lives a love story without a future (an interlude) with the cash girl of a supermarket. Gerbase, based on his own short story, discusses love as consumerism.”
(Luis Carlos Merten, AGÊNCIA ESTADO, 10/03/2000)
